MUSIC Thursday: True or False? The Horrors
June 4, 2009 | category: MusicPrimary Colours is by the same band with the Sheena Is A Parasite video. True.
Emily Blunt was in the video. False – It starred Samantha Morton.
Lead singer Faris Badwan was known as Faris Rotter before. True.
We’re talking about The Horrors here. True.

Celebrate the sophomore album of the black, skinny jeans-wearing Brit band of five. First known for their noisy punk and garage rock, The Horrors also built a reputation based on notoriety – with Faris’ publicized relationship with London ‘It’ girl Peaches Geldof, the band’s self-aware clothing style and performances, and Faris’ crowd-surfing followed by his numerous fights.
From their shoegazer-stylish arrogance the boys have grown up to embrace and explore newer, meaningful music territory in their new album– with a little help from their producers of course – Craig Silvey, Geoff Barrow of Portishead and director Chris Cunningham. A psychedelic touch with echoed vocals and (yes!) melodic guitars and synths give me reason to claim that The Horrors have finally arrived.
