Green GURU: The Mud is the Message
November 2, 2009 | category: Green
Whether you consider it art or an eyesore, there’s no denying that graffiti makes a mark. But sometimes using toxic paint to spread a message is a little besides the point – especially when a painter is trying to raise awareness about the environment by stenciling slogans like No Oil! or Reduce –> Reuse –> Recycle.
GURU Energy Drink has always been all about caring what’s in your can, so we were happy to find out there’s a way to make street art without getting spray paint on your hands – say it with mud.
Green graffiti is the brain child of Wisconsin artist Jesse Graves, who told amazing eco site Inhabitat “I use mud or earth because it is a fundamental life-giving substance, logical for my messages.”
Check out step-by-step instructions at Mud Stencils. Not only is it ridiculously easy, playing with mud will make you feel like a kid again. Just try to do it in the dry season.
