HVW8 Art + Design Gallery is dedicated to supporting fine art and avant-garde graphic design. Created in 2008 by curators Tyler Gibney and Addison Liu and housed in Los Angeles, the gallery boasts a roster of names like Parra, Geoff McFetridge, Mark Gonzales, Janette Beckman, and Jean Andre.

In the art scene, the gallery is known for its fascination with hip hop. It stems from Gibney’s experience with live painting. Originating as the HVW8 Art Installation, Tyler is considered one of the early pioneers of the live art movement. “We used to be an art band, we would take images and create it the way you would do a music piece, but we would clump together different images and create a piece – it was like doing music visually” explained Gibney. After touring the globe for nearly a decade creating visual music, the group created the HVW8 gallery.

Currently on show until August 10th is Parra’s “Same Old Song”. Be sure to swing by the gallery and get to know HVW8 – something tells me they are soon to be your new favorite spot.
