If you’re reading this blog, it means you’ve probably already checked out GURU’s July video feature Bonfire in Brooklyn (above, in the video player) and that you’ve enjoyed the tune “Tomcat” off of Demon’s Claws album Satan’s Little Pig.
When the Montreal band isn’t making music for GURU videos, dancing around campfires naked or throwing apples backstage (this isn’t weird speculation, it’s right off of the YouTube video description), they can be found teaching kids the ins and outs of rock along with King Khan. Or at least giving them a free concert, as seen below. The video’s a bit shaky, but aren’t they just the sweetest?
To kickoff the long weekend with a good laugh, check out this collection of original cubicle pranks we found today on MyModernMet. Office Karma… who knew?
Now (if you can) get out of your cubicle and go get some sun.
You never know what you’re gonna come back to on Tuesday!
We spent last summer working with our friends at Virtue Worldwide, VICE Magazine’s in-house Creation and Branding Agency – brainstorming about the essence of GURU. We finally came up with a kickass tagline: Clean Energy For Dirty Minds (Big shout out here to Thalia, Spencer, Hosi and Suroosh!). What’s a dirty mind? A creative mind, a rebel, a kinky flirt, an independent thinker; all of the above? The answer belongs to you.
We got such a rush of ideas and inspiration from the tagline that we had to show it off on video. And so, Matthew Frost shot and directed a bunch of his hot & sexy friends in playful acts of deviance, inspired and energized (of course) by GURU. Added killer music to the mix and 8 amazing videos were born.
The scenes were shot late August in Manhattan and Williamsburg. We just can’t tell you how much crap-free fun we had on that shoot!
Feel free to comment on our videos and tell us which one you prefer!
Jackassworld.com launched a contest among its community to redesign/alter Steve-O’s famous tattoos. Now 9 months sparkling clean and a Dancing with the Stars contestant, the stunt boy doesn’t think a pot leaf on the wrist, for instance, is such a great idea anymore.
Here are the contest details for y’all aspiring artists:
• Go here for the official page to download hi-res images to work from and find all the other super technical crap, e.g. legal mumbo jumbo, specs, etc., related to this contest.
• All uploaded entries must be received by Thursday, March 19th.
• Winners will be personally decided upon by Steve-O and announced on Monday, March 23rd.
The song that’s on the GURU Clean Energy for Dirty Minds teaser is by a MTL garage band named Demon’s Claws. You’re listening to “Wrong Side of Town” from the record “Satan’s Little Pet Pig.”
Not exactly a happy go lucky band (Fucked on K, Trip to a clinic are other songs on their LP), but they sure rock, if they have clean energy. They are having a record release party tonight in Montreal, 9pm @ Divan Orange. (4234 St Laurent). Not to miss if you are around.
